Hey Folks!
I am excited to say that I am going on my first TLI trip in less than three weeks! We are going to Mongolia to teach pastors how to read and preach the Bible. So their churches can be fed and strengthened by the Word of God.
The believers in Mongolia are on fire and over the last couple decades there has been an explosion of Christianity. Going from zero percent Christian in 1989 when Soviet Communism fell to roughly 40,000 evangelical Christians today. This is really exciting and we should rejoice and thank God for the work he’s doing in Mongolia.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that according to the Joshua Project there are still 29 unreached people groups who have no access to the gospel. The majority of the 3.2 million Mongolians are still Buddhist, and Islam has grown three times larger than Christianity in the same amount of time.
The precious few believers in Mongolia are full of passion and zeal and they are faithfully sharing the gospel and planting churches, which means more and more pastors are needed to lead these new churches so they can be strong and healthy.
There are about 30 or so pastors and leaders that attend this training site located in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar. But most of the attendees are first generation believers, they didn’t grow up under the Word of God and they’re hungry to learn how to read and faithfully preach God’s Word to their people, so they can fulfill Christ’s command to teach sound doctrine and make disciples that obey Christ.
TLI exists to make that a reality for them. So these believers are equipped to feed, lead, and protect their flock so heresies don’t creep into their churches and destroy them, whether that’s mixing local traditional beliefs or adopting the abhorrent prosperity gospel, which is exactly opposite of what Jesus taught. In order for a new pastor to stand strong on his own he needs solid Bible training over a long period of time. Then his flock can go out to those 29 unreached people groups and plant churches.
As one missionary in Mongolia put it, “It takes…about 75 to 100 years in one place to really establish a national church,” he said, “We are growing oak trees. Right now they are saplings. But 150 years from now, we hope we’ll see acorns on the branches.” – Mark Wood, director of Mongolia’s Kingdom Leadership Training Center
God uses his people to do his kingdom work. That’s you and me working together, sacrificing the comforts of this world, to bring God’s Word to his people in the utter most parts of the earth. So, if that’s your heart, join us in this amazing work that God is doing among the nations. And also, please share this video on your FB or by email so others can be a part of what God is doing.
More exciting news is that as of today we are almost to 60%! We have been blown away by what God has been doing through all of your prayers and support. This trip is completely covered because of you who are currently giving.
Because we’ve reached a certain checkpoint in our support levels, TLI is letting me go on this trip, but I can’t start fully working for TLI until we are at 100% funding. At this point, we would need about 35 more families or individuals on our team in order to reach our goal. And half that if a couple churches would come on board. So, we would really appreciate you talking to your missions director about allowing us to share our heart and ministry with your church.
Our hope is to be fully funded by the time the new baby comes in January. So, spread the word with your friends, family and churches, and pray about joining our team.
Thanks for watching this far!
And Christian, whatever you do, ascribe God his glory and declare his marvelous works!
