Changing our Mission Agency: Joining Global Outreach

We are excited to announce that this past week we became official missionaries with Global Outreach.

You may have noticed our FB posts about our long road trip to Nashville, Mississippi, and Texas. Well, the primary goal was to complete a candidate week with Global called Missionary Orientation Training. It was a wonderful time of meeting the GO staff and meeting other missionaries heading to the field. The week was filled with workshops on missions, culture-crossing, how Global works, etc… The kids had their own sessions and had a blast learning about being a third culture kid. Sometime, you’ll have to ask them about yay ducks and yuck ducks!

This decision was incredibly difficult and was not made lightly.

Training Leaders International has been a huge blessing in our lives over the past four years and we love them very much. Global Outreach just seems like a better fit for our vision and family. My heart hurt when I informed TLI of our transition. My hopes and prayers were answered. They were very supportive and I will be able to continue teaching with TLI at the four Ethiopian sites while we carry out other types of ministry.

Thank you for traveling this road with us and sending us to Ethiopia in a manner worthy of the gospel. We certainly cannot do it without you.

May the Love of Christ Fill You,

FAQ on Our Transition to Global Outreach

  • Why are we changing agencies?
    • There are a couple reasons that we are changing mission agencies. Primarily, because Global Outreach is equipped with an entire department of staff members that care for our kids and family life on the field. Secondarily, ministry. Although our focus on theological education won’t change, we are adding in other aspects of ministry that TLI is not involved in. They do one thing, theological education, and they are world-class. They are in total support of us and we are going to miss them dearly. Thirdly, finances. As we transition to the field our financial needs go up and Global Outreach has their 100% promise which will enable us to do more on the field.
  • How will our ministry change?
    • This will not change our mission and vision for Ascribe & Declare. We will still focus on training pastors and leaders to end theological poverty, work to translate and write Christian literature, and also work on community development to help those in physical poverty—fulfilling both the Great Commission and the Great Commandments, as we like to say. In fact, I have made arrangements to teach at all four Ethiopian sites on a regular basis. There are two other organizations that have requested I teach with them as well.
  • Who is Global Outreach?
    • Global Outreach is a missionary agency designed to assist, strengthen, and equip those who are called to serve God in a foreign land. They believe the Church sends missionaries and holds them spiritually accountable. So Global’s primary function is to serve and care for those on the field in ways that the Church isn’t equipped to do right now. Global Outreach is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and an accredited ECFA member. Learn more about them on their website.
  • What’s the difference between Ascribe & Declare and Global Outreach?
    • Ascribe and Declare is the name of our ministry in Ethiopia. Global Outreach is the organization that cares for us on the field and handles our donations.
  • What’s the 100% promise?
    • The 100% promise means that the missionary receives every cent you donate to them. Global takes care of the financial accounting and provides the care each missionary needs to stay healthy on the field — at no cost to them.
  • When is this change happening?
    • Now. The week of training and orientation in Mississippi was with Global. Upon completion, we officially became commissioned missionaries with Global Outreach. Our last official day with TLI is Feb 29, so if you are a current ministry partner, please try to transfer all your giving information over to Global by that date. We cannot thank you enough.
